a pep talk from Ira Glass

I was reintroduced to this little gem by Andrea Farina. I've heard the full interview with Ira Glass on NPR, but it was a while ago. When I originally  listened to it on the radio, it was before I moved to Connecticut and started sharing a studio with another artist. It was inspiring the first time I heard it, but revisiting this wisdom through this visual aid really hits home this time. Now that I am actually making creative work on somewhat of a regular basis, Ira's advice is so encouraging at this moment in my life where my taste still disapproves of my own work. The key take away for me is, to keep going and not to let the imbalance of your ideal quality of work discourage you enough to quit.

Oh, by the way, Andrea is the other artist who shares the studio with me. You can click her name to visit her website. She does very interesting and beautiful work with all sorts of mixed media. Let's be real, it is very intimidating to share a studio with such talented artist. Thankfully, in this case, "intimidating" can sometimes be interchangeable with "inspiring".
